New Data on the Clinical Management of Cow’s Milk Allergy Through Tolerance Acquisition
Roberto Berni Canani, MD, PhD,
Professor at the Department of Pediatrics, University Federico II of Naples, Italy, discusses strategies for managing CMA through a nutritional immunology approach. The presentation includes a review of his research on tolerance acquisition in infants with CMA with the combination of the probiotic Lactobacillus GG with extensively hydrolyzed casein formula as well as emerging mouse models of CMA. This activity is designed to help clinicians who care for pediatric patients understand the relationships among probiotics, exposure to casein peptides, gut microflora composition, and immune modulation so that they can employ active dietotherapy to manage CMA symptoms, stimulate tolerance acquisition, and promote normal body growth and development in infants.
